Amara has begun, with the help of Serveis de Millorca Agraria (Department of Agriculture and Fishing), an innovative project of commercial revitalization for the fishing of Mallorca in order to bring their products to new consumers.
This has resulted in the involcration of the Department of Education, that has made their importance to serve in the school cafeterias local fish products, improving in this way the nutrition consumption that make up the Mediterranean diet.
They sought out the participation of the organization AmadipEsment so the fish from Mallorca´s Lonja could be brought to the school cafeterias, at an affordable prices and in an attractive way. A nutrition expert developed four new products made of 100% local fish, in a simple way that respects the organoleptic characteristics of the species: fish soup, croquets, hamburgers and sausage. To be developed, in the first phase, for children and youth, must comply with certain prerequisites: they can´t have bones, retain all its nutritional value and are suitable for Celiac.
The Project Complies with Four Goals:
Improve the fishing sector income, improving the advantages of the species encased with sales value and a large amount at a low Price.
Driving the development of a new industry of fishing product processing, innovation and pioneering in the Baleares, that will offer jobs for disabled people through Amadip-Esment.
Improve the diet of our children, patients, etc…
Drastically reduce the consumption of packaged goods, commonly found in frozen food products, as well as CO2 emissions caused by the long distance transportation from the capture zone.
This Project has been designed for the Department of Agriculture and Fish of the Balearic Government and with the collaboration of the Department of Education, Amadip-Esment and Llotja des Piex of Mallorca.
