Digitise your SME: why go digital in 2019?

In 2019, all small and medium-sized companies that have not yet been digitized will have to face this important challenge. A major challenge that promises incredible advantages.

Today, companies are looking for easy ways to implement digitization projects in order to keep up with their competitors and satisfy their customers.
In this process, companies are not only focused on exploiting technology to improve their operational efficiency, but also working to leverage the advantages of their innovation.

Such digital innovations accompany the generation of vast and diverse amounts of data, fundamental information about an SME’s specific industry, detailed profiles of its current and potential audience and much more. In this lively and continuously developing landscape, more and more companies are choosing to tackle innovation to enhance their brand, differentiate themselves from their competition and acquire a solid and trusted online presence.

The solution to these challenges is to start a digital transformation process for SMEs that involves the entire structure of your company, to improve it and (re)position it in the market with new prospects for growth and development.

1. What does digital transformation mean?

Digital transformation is that process of digitalization of a company that is developed through technological innovation and counts with the collection of data to improve existing processes and increase sales, change non-functional elements of the business model or reinvent the corporate image completely, depending on the case.Speaking of digitization, it is important to understand that having a corporate website or social networks does not mean having digitized the company. This process has to be supported by a complete analysis of the existing Business Model, audience research, metrics, KPIs, market segment studies and many other actions that require time, know-how and investments.

When did this process start?

Digital transformation is an actively discussed topic these days, but the conversion started as early as the late 1990s, when some pioneers of business innovation began computerizing data storage processes for their businesses.

After that, digital processes pertaining to the web 2.0 emerged to support customer interactions, more or less since 2004. As companies’ digital ambitions grew rapidly, they soon needed trained digital teams to manage new social and mobile channels.

This enabled companies and organizations to leverage digital data in their own activities and interactions. By connecting with their customers, suppliers and other parties important to their businesses, companies realized that they were already operating on digital networks and discovered their advantages.transformacion-digital-pymes.jpg
